Greg M. Smith has over two decades of leading transformational technology projects in higher education, government, and commercial entities. Prior to joining eLumin Greg was the Vice President and General Manager at Aloft by AccelerEd. Greg provided strategy and leadership for the development of student-focused cloud offerings. Previously, as the Associate Vice President for Information Technology and Interim CTO at the University of Maryland University College, Greg was responsible for the creating IT strategies that improve the teaching and learning experience for a global student body while maximizing financial and operational resources. He built and implemented UMUC’s cloud-first strategy, migrating four data centers to the public cloud resulting in better service levels for the university community. Greg spearheaded the university’s desktop-as-a-service program that gives distance learners access to educational applications anywhere, on their own device. Prior to his work at UMUC, Greg worked Hobsons, DC Water and Sewer Authority, and the University of Indianapolis. He holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the Mason School at The College of William and Mary and a Bachelors of Social Work from Indiana University. Greg regularly presents and publishes articles on the cloud enablement and technologies in higher education.
Mohammad A. Haque has over two decades of technology experience spanning development, infrastructure, and operations in commercial and education organizations. Prior to joining eLumin, Mohammad was Principal Architect for Cloud Services at Aloft by AccelerEd. A solution-oriented leader in designing and building technology infrastructure, his technical knowledge and curiosity drive him to offer unique solutions leveraging modern technologies. Previously, as the Cloud Solutions Architect in the Office of Information Technology at the University of Maryland University College. In this role, Mohammad was a technical lead in the implementation of UMUC's cloud-first strategy. Mohammad was also the lead architect on the university's desktop-as-a-service program serving 12k+ students. Prior to his work at UMUC, Mohammad worked at Liquidity Services, a leader in e-commerce marketplaces providing innovative B2B e-commerce marketplace solutions.
Ben Brown is a senior executive with a wealth of experience in business strategy and technology. Ben started his career as an Internet Developer and Solutions Architect for Delta Airlines. After his time at Delta, he became an Independent Consultant assisting companies like IBM, HP, GTE and Merrill Lynch in developing and launching top-tier internet-based businesses. In 1999 Mr. Brown co-founded Liquidity Services, Inc. (NASDAQ: LQDT). Within a decade, LSI exploded from five employees to more than 1,000 employees and topped nearly one billion dollars in sales. Since 2009, Ben has been an active real estate investor, an angel investor in several new ventures as well as a CTO level consultant.
Shaun Fanning is Chief Product Officer at Intellispark and a co-founder of Naviance. Shaun is also co-author of Who Do You Think You Are: Three Critical Conversations for Coaching Teens to College & Career Success, published by John Wiley & Sons. Shaun previously served as vice president of research and development at Hobsons, where he led new product initiatives focused on improving student success through technology in K–12 and higher education. He joined Hobsons in 2007 through its acquisition of Naviance, where he served as head of product strategy and technology. Prior to co-founding Naviance, he held a variety of roles in business analysis, finance, technology, marketing, and product management at AT&T and The Thomson Corporation (now Thomson Reuters).
Jason W. Reed helped craft the idea of eLumin and continues to advise the company. Mr. Reed is a business and technology consultant for startups, commercial entities, and non-profit organizations, focusing on M&A integration, expert testimony, and due diligence activities.
Previously Jason was the CTO at the UMUC, an accredited provider of online degrees and certificates to over 87,000 students in 27 countries. Under his leadership, UMUC was recognized as academic innovators by EdTech, EDUCAUSE, IMS and technology leaders by Amazon, salesforce.com, and Google. Prior to UMUC, Jason established an Enterprise Architecture & Strategy practice based on emerging SaaS, Cloud Computing, and SOA trends at biologics pioneer, MedImmune. Before MedImmune, Mr. Reed was a Managing Director at Acumen Solutions, Inc. where led technology consulting at AOL, Sun, Pfizer, SunTrust, Bridgewater Associates, Fannie Mae, and Citibank. Mr. Reed also provided software development expertise for the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) to enable forward deployed teams in the Global War on Terror. Jason began his career as a member of Citicorp’s elite, CEO-sponsored, Management Associate program where he architected a solution reducing credit card write-offs by $38M annually and received the Citibank Excellence Award for "outstanding performance, dedication, and personal achievement."
Mr. Reed is an honors graduate of The George Washington University School of Business in Washington, DC. Jason serves on the Board of Advisors for Careerstone Group, LLC, was a founding board member of The School for Ethics & Global Leadership and chaired the governance committee for the Board of Trustees at For Love of Children. He and his family live in Arlington, VA and are philanthropically active in a variety of family-focused organizations throughout the Washington, DC region.
